About Me

Hey! I’m Kara! I enjoy working with a wide range of individuals, including children ages 5 and up, teens, young adults, and adults. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Concordia University Wisconsin and went on to receive my Master’s Degree from Lewis University. I’m currently licensed to practice social work in both Illinois and Indiana.

I specialize in supporting individuals who are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, and loss. My approach is strengths-based—I strive to help my clients feel empowered and capable as they work toward growth and healing. I incorporate a variety of techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailoring the work to meet each person’s unique needs.

I deeply value the authenticity and complexity of being human, and I aim to provide a space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings openly. I believe the most meaningful progress happens in an environment that feels safe, relaxed, and compassionate.

I’m here for:

…Teens and young adults figuring out who they are and where they belong
…People exploring their gender identity and learning to live more fully in their truth
…Anyone carrying the weight of cultural, racial, or societal expectations and trying to breathe freely in spite of them

And with all that often comes anxiety, burnout, low self-worth, and a deep need to just feel seen. That’s where I come in.

In our work together, I focus on building real connection first. From there, we’ll explore what healing looks like for you. I pull from a range of approaches—sometimes structured, sometimes creative—and I always stay flexible. Our sessions might include reflection, laughter, messy conversations, or moments of stillness. I believe therapy should feel like a space that’s both grounding and energizing—where you get to be fully human.
